Labor Day Weekend, 2008
The weather shaped up real nice by Saturday morning and lots of pilots were showing up and setting up their gliders. At 1 pm Tracy took a flight on a Sonic and although we didn't think it looked soarable Tracy stayed up with the Sonic so many of us hooked in and soon were flying. it turned out that the thermals were great and we were getting to above 5,000 feet and the air stayed soarable till 6 pm. The rest of the days right up until and including Tuesday were as good or better than Saturday and the highest we got was 6,400 feet and all four days were so good and I don't recall a four day stretch that equalled this one. Most interesting was that the light winds were from the southeast on the first three days and straight south on the Tuesday. Usually we expect storms to move in with southeast winds but this time the air was delightful. Many pilots had 3 hour flights and my last flight on Tuesday ended at 7:10 pm after 3.5 hours in the air.
